Monday, February 11 will now be converted from a full day to a half-day for all students K-12. The Depew Teacher Organization will hold a required contract ratification meeting. High School and Middle School will dismiss at 11:18 a.m. and Elementary School will dismiss at noon.
Congratulations to the 2019 Depew Middle School Spelling Bee Champion, Dylan Thomas (grade 6), and Runner-Up, Lamyh Pugh (grade 7). Dylan and Lamyh were among the thirty top spellers at DMS who competed in the event on January 10.

Middle School French students got to experience French culture today by sampling the BUCHE DE NOEL cake in class. This is not only a tradition in France, but also with Mrs. Harshany's French classes for over a decade.
Students in sixth grade participated in a Holiday Book Exchange. They were able to replace their already read books from home with other gently used books.

Students in Ms. Russo's Family and Consumer Science class particpated in the Hour of Code last week. They enjoyed activities such as The Grinch hour of code, Flappy code (writing your own game), Mine Craft, App lab (Design App & coding with blocks).
Mrs. Yelich's 6th grade music class experienced the hour of code by identifying notes played by selecting puzzle pieces for the correct answers on the hour of code site. Students also scanned QR codes to play music examples that show how music is everywhere and diverse.
Eighth grade students in Mr. Nolan's Technology classes are working on their Rube Goldberg machines. The idea is to create a complex machine to complete a simple task. These students are focusing on incorporating simple machines to raise a flag. #DepewSTEAM

Mrs. Marks' class introduced a coffee program to DMS called the Brew Brigade ! The "Brew" stands for Bringing Real Employment experiences to Wildcats. The skills that will be practiced and mastered include filling orders, speaking clearly, handling money, and problem solving.
Sixth grade students attended a field trip to Camp Tahigwa on October 3.

However, we are looking forward to a great time at Camp Tahigwa on October 3rd.
As of August 16, 2018 the repair cost for damaged Chromebooks will change. Students who damage the keyboard will pay $30.00 instead of $100.00. The fee schedule is as follows:
Lost device, broken screen, or damaged body is $100.00
Damaged keyboard or lost power cord is $30.00
