The Depew Union Free School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Shanda DuClon to the position of Assistant Superintendent effective July 1, 2023. Mrs. DuClon was appointed on March 30 at a special meeting of the Board of Education of the Depew Union Free School District. Dr. Hank Stopinski, Superintendent of Schools, commented that there was a great deal of interest in the position and an intensive process in the selection of the Assistant Superintendent. Mrs. DuClon comes to the District with a comprehensive set of skills, knowledge and experiences.
After 10 years in the classroom, she has completed the NYSCOSS “Future Superintendents Academy Program,” served as an elementary and middle school building administrator and Special Education Director. In her current position as Principal of Springville Middle School, Mrs. DuClon has served as the Administrator in Charge in the absence of her Superintendent and acted as a mentor and coach of new administrators. She has served as a member of her District’s Capital Project Team, Budget Planning Team, Strategic Planning Team, BOCES Regional Task Force for Reopening (2020), Contract Negotiations and Guiding Coalition.
Mrs. DuClon has also been very active in her professional development and growth, attending many state and national conferences and leadership programs. When asked about the appointment, she shared, “I’m thrilled to be appointed as the Assistant Superintendent at Depew. My skills and experiences are directly aligned to the current needs of the district. Throughout the process, the sense of community has shone through and I look forward to becoming part of the family. I’ve always led with the best interest of students at heart and will continue to do so here at Depew.”
